Ricky Tims, Quilter & Musician I learned to paper piece in one of Ricky's classes about 10 years ago. His success in the quilting world has been thrilling to watch, and couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Lost Quilt Come Home Yes, quilts get stolen, misplaced, and lost in shipping. | Charlotte Area Sewing & Quilt Stores (listed alphabetically -- Updated 12/10/2008) Creative Sewing & Vacuums, Charlotte, NC They sell Bernina & Brother sewing machines, teach classes, and have a limited selection of quilting fabric. They are located in Stonecrest Mall at Rea Road & I-485. Himebaugh's Sewing and Vacuum, Charlotte, NC I can't say enough good things about the Himebaugh's, where I get my Viking sewing machine serviced. In addition to selling Vikings, they have thread & sewing notions (but no fabric). Located in McMullen Creek Shopping Center on Pineville- Matthews Road, just east of Johnston Road in Charlotte. Mary Jo's Cloth Store, Gastonia, NC Yes, Mary Jo's is open! Don't let the construction fool you. Possibly the largest fabric store I have ever been it, Mary Jo's carries everything: pearl-encrusted bridal fabrics, raw silk, home dec fabrics, polar fleece, and a full range of top quality quilting cottons. Don't be surprised to see quilting tour buses pull up while you're here: the low prices & selection bring quilters from all over. Located in Gastonia, at I-85 and Cox Road. Overall Quilter, Indian Trail, NC A full-service quilt store, Overall Quilter offers classes, machine quilting services, fabric, and notions. Classes of all types are offered, from beginner to advanced quilting. I can't wait to take a class they offer on using PaintSticks on fabric. From I-485, get off at the John Street exit and head south towards Stallings & Indian Trail. They are located about 4 miles down the road, on the right hand side. (Just past Sun Valley High School, next to a Harris Teeter grocery store.) Quilt Patch Fabrics, Matthews, NC You'll feel right at home at Quilt Patch, the quintessential quilt shop. Fabric, notions, & class samples abound, with special rooms for batiks and flannels. If you are interested in sewing antiques, the store is decorated with a wide variety of them. They also offer machine quilting and binding services. Located on Stallings Road between Independence/Rt.74 and John Street/Old Monroe Road. |

The Quilting Nook, Waxhaw, NC If you love bright fabrics, especially batiks, don't miss this wonderful quilt shop! The staff will take extra time to help you coordinate fabric for a project and give quilting advice. The classroom space is wonderful. 103 W. South Main Street, Waxhaw, NC 28173 They are on the south side of the railroad tracks, in a remodeled building. On the brick above the store is painted the word 'Groceries.'
